As the day comes to an end learn more about Laos culture and locally made products at the Stay Another Day exhibit. You will also enjoy a Lao tea tasting ceremony.

Then, climb the stairs of Mount Phousi and watch the sun set over the city and surrounding hills. Transfer back your hotel, stopping along the way at the hill tribe evening market for some shopping.

Day 02: Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Cave

Breakfast at your hotel. Then enjoy a free morning to relax. After lunch, transfer to pier for a cruise up along the Mekong. Before cruising, start your morning a visit to the most photographed temple, Wat Xieng Thong. Located at the end of the peninsula, close to the Mekong, this temple was built in 1560 by King Setthathirat, the library was added in 1828.

ACruise up the Mekong River to the famous Pak Ou Caves. Locally called Tam Ting, the caves are filled with thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues. The statues range in size from a few centimeters tall to the height of a human and are crammed into the cave which is nestled in a limestone cliff. The caves are also a destination for local pilgrimages.

On the boat journey admire the several waterways that have traditionally been used as the local form of transportation. These waterways continue to be used in that manner today in many parts of the country and a local boat is probably one of the most rewarding ways to discover life along the rivers. As you cruise along, observe the daily activities of fishermen, how they throw their nets in with elegant arm gestures and rely on the water for their livelihood. For the villages settled along the Mekong, the River plays an important role in their daily life and usually represents the only means of transportation and commerce.

After visiting the caves cruise back to Luang Prabang. If time permits, stop on the way back at Ban Xang Hay, a village that specializes in making rice wine. Tonight, enjoy a diner at the Tamak Lao restaurant. A traditional Lao menu will be served.

Day 03: Luang Prabang city tour by e-bike

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in the morning for a short transfer by tuk tuk to our electric powered bike station. After a short briefing to explain you the use of your new vehicle, it will be time to start your responsible-travel discovery of Luang Prabang… in a quiet way!

These electric bikes are an emissions-free mode of transportation and allow the user to either pedal the bike by their own power or to coast along using the bike’s battery-powered, rechargeable motor.

Start at the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, where you will explore the history of Laos. Continue by bike to Wat Mai, a temple renowned for its golden bas-relief, and Wat Sensoukarahm, which features a beautiful dazzling golden façade. Finish the morning’s tour at Wat Xieng Thong, the most revered temple in Luang Prabang. Located at the end of the peninsula, close to the Mekong, this temple was built in 1560 by King Setthathirat and is decorated with ornate carvings and mosaics.

After lunch ride to the Traditional Art & Ethnology Center (TAEC). The Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre is dedicated to exploring the rich diversity of Laos’ ethnic minorities. Traditional costumes, tools, and artifacts are on display alongside in-depth descriptions and written histories. It is a great opportunity to gain insight in to the Lao people (Note: closed on Monday). Return your bikes to the E-bike station.

This afternoon enjoy a romantic and relaxing time at L’Hibiscus Spa. Upon arrival you will be treated to a hot spa welcome drink before a 30 minute herbal foot massage on a private balcony for two. Day 04: luang Prabang – kuang Si Waterfall

This morning, at 10 am, you will be met by your guide and your driver to visit the refreshing waters of the Kuang Si Waterfalls, located 32 km from Luang Prabang.

These waterfalls cascade down multilevel limestone formations creating a series of turquoise blue pools perfect for swimming in on a hot day.  The jungle and dense woods surrounding the falls is filled with wildlife and pleasant walks can be taken along the natural footpaths.  (Note: please wear modest swimming attire when bathing).

Enjoy a picnic lunch at the waterfalls

On the way back to Luang Prabang stop at Ban Tha Pan to learn more about the Kamu way of living. Then stop at Ban Ou, a Lao Loum Village, and the largest ethnic group in Laos. Finish with a stop at Ban Na Ouane a Hmong village. The Hmong people originated in the mountains of Southern China but despite their rich oral tradition there are no written records of their past except from accounts of outsiders. Thus Hmong history has been passed down through legends and ritual ceremonies from one generation to another. In the 1960s and '70s many Hmong were secretly recruited by the American army and the CIA to fight against communism in Laos.
