Explore the kingdom of Cambodia, the capital city of Phnom Penh is still a city steeped in tradition and history, offering several cultural and historical sites such as the killing field, Toul Sleng Museum and the architecture colonial in Sisowath Quay.

Connection to the old city of Siem reap, serves as the gateway to the millennium-old ruins of the Angkorian-era Khmer Empire via Kampong Cham and Kampong Thom Provincial City which known as colonial small city beside of Phnom Penh. Siem reap, designated a World Heritage Site by UNESECO in 1993 which surrounding of temples including of Bayon, Ta Prum and the legendary Angkor Wat.

Suvarnabhoumi Airport is a single terminal airport with THREE entrances from the secure area into the public arrivals hall. Domestic arrivals will enter through Gate A. International arrivals will enter through Gate B or C. The representative/guide will know in advance which entrance the clients will arrive through and will be waiting in the appropriate area. In case you do not see our guide kindly proceed to the ATTA desk located at exit door number 10 (for international arrivals) or located at exit door number 1 (for domestic arrivals).

The Royal Grand Palace is Bangkok’s number one ‘must see’ attraction as well as Thailand’s most important landmark. Our guide will take you on an in depth journey through Thailand’s history and royal heritage.

You will be awed by the grandeur and majesty of the building and its throne halls. And, of course, marvel at the mysterious Emerald Buddha, the most revered Buddha image in Thailand.

Afterwards cross the river for a Thai lunch at Supatra River House.The Prasat museum is a private collection of antiques, art and archaeology located in the far suburbs of east Bangkok. Visits are by appointment only and the museum is one of Bangkok’s great little secrets. Dr. Prasat is dedicated to keeping in Thailand antiques that may otherwise be sold overseas and his collections are unique and priceless.

Early morning departure from your hotel in Bangkok and drive directly to Bang Pa In, the summer palace built by Rama IV.  There you will see the contrasting palace buildings and surrounding temples inspired by European, Chinese and Thai designs. 

Also visit Wat Nived, the gothic inspired temple on the banks of the Chao Praya River.  After the visit, board your traditional rice barge Benjarong, and enjoy a cruise up the Chao Phraya River into Ayutthaya.  En route you can enjoy the views of the Japanese and Portuguese settlements, Wat Phutthaisawan, Saint Joseph’s Church, and Wat Chaiwatthanaram, while lunch is served on board.   Ayutthaya, surrounded by rivers and a canal, flourished as the capital of Siam from 1350 until it was attacked by the Burmese in 1767. 

The remains of the temples and ruins of this great city have now been declared a World Heritage Site.  Disembark at Wat Kasattrathirat Pier and visit the most important of the ruined temples in Ayutthaya historical park:  Wat Yai Chaimongkol, Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Vihara Phra Mongkol Bopit and Wat Chai Watanaram.  Return to Bangkok by car.

Breakfast at your hotel and then transfer to Bangkok Airport for your flight to Chiang Rai. Arrive at Chiang Rai on to be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel for check in. 

Drive to Golden Triangle area to visit the Hall of Opium, where you can learn about the history of opium and the problems caused by narcotics through edutainment facilities. The first part of the exhibition presents the 5,000 year-history of the opium. The second part shows the effects of drugs on the mind and body, strategies throughout the world to control drugs, international cooperation, and efforts in dealing with drug addiction.

Leave hotel for boat landing and start 1 hour Mae Kok boat trip by long-tailed speed boat to Karen Hilltribe Village, where you start 2 hours elephant trekking up and down hill into the woods, to a Yao Hilltribe Village.

Local lunch will be provided. Then visit Yao & Akha Hilltribe. Then trek to a waterfall, where you can swim and take a short rest. Return to your Hotel, en route visit Chiang Rai Handicraft Center.

Depart your hotel for Mae Sai, the bustling trading town at the farther-most northern border between Thailand and Burma.  Cross the Sai River into Tha Chilek, the Burmese border town, and witness local Burmese life in nearby village.

Take a rickshaw to explore Tha Chilek with its Shan style temple. Then ride around the town through lanes and side streets of Tha Chilek. End your tour at a local market, famous for products from Southern China, Burma, and Laos.

Visit the Doi Tung region, 2000 meters/6500 feet above sea-level. En-route visit hilltribe villages. In the past, the forest area around Doi Tung was destroyed by shifting cultivation. In 1987, the Doi Tung Development Project was established according to the King Mother’s initiative in order to protect the region, eradicate the cultivation of opium, and encourage farmers to use sustainable agricultural practices. Visit Mae Fah Luang gardens with flowering plants and beautiful gardens. Drive on to Wat Phrathad Doi Tung, a sacred hilltop shrine, regarded as the holiest sanctuary by the residents of Chiang Rai and nearby provinces. The Wat was built in A.D. 911 and it is believed that the left collarbone of Lord Buddha is enshrined in the twin Pagodas.

Early morning transfer to Chiang Khong for the border crossing into Laos. We must be at the border no later than 0830, which means leaving at 0600 but the good news is that the road is quiet and passes through wonderful scenery often following the Mekong River.
